A few of the photos can be seen at my flickr, and here is one experimental shot :)

This photo is just Angus (again) running with his ball. He just picked it up after sprinting quite a distance, and rapidly turned in my direction (giving him his funny appearance). I’ll miss my dogs when I leave.

Picture and Sound.

I don’t know how or why it happens, but sometimes I totally forget that I have great headphones. Today, I saw them on my bookshelf, put them on, and was amazed at the poor quality that I generally listen to. Music is such a better experience with good headphones, so I might as well enjoy it to the fullest…right? Also, every time I put these headphones on again, I feel a strong need to listen to crazy techno music. Nothing has changed, and today I found some new electronica bands and listened to old favorites. It’s weird how you find out about bands sometimes…

Only a few days left until I go back to school, so I’m working with my mom’s DSLR while I have access to it here. When I go back to school, it’s back to my mediocre point and shoot. It’s fine for taking snapshots and to have in your backpack or something, but it doesn’t give me really any creative control over my pictures. I’m waiting to buy a camera until October, when the Canon G11 comes out. I’m so psyched! I’ll be buying an external strobe as well, or waiting for Christmas to afford it. I love the way photography gives me an outlet to express myself. I’m not artistic at all, and I haven’t been the most creative person in the world, but give me a camera and I just want to show people how I see the world. Once I get a good camera and go back to a city environment, I’ll be able to do what I want to do with it.

I’m very shy when it comes to people photography, even if it’s with my own friends. I hope to get over this nervousness when I get a new camera that isn’t so wimpy looking. Going up to someone and taking their picture will be very awkward with a little dinky thing that doesn’t even have a viewfinder.

While I’m thinking about photography, I have found out that I have had a bad habit that many other people my age have…and that is uploading every stinking picture you take! I see facebook photo albums with hundreds of pictures, and they contain maybe one or two gems. I want to be taking more and more pictures, and uploading less and less. If I go somewhere to take pictures, I hope for one or two good ones that can represent the experience.

I’ll write more about photography as I get more into it. It’s a very complicated art (doesn’t seem it does it!), and there is much to discover and learn.

Cheers!

Tonight I watched Ponyo with some of my best buds, so that was fun.

Anyway, here is my work area…I like it, and we’ll see how I adapt it this year at college.

Creative flower shot. I might miss some days, but I would like to get in the habit of taking one quality picture each day.

I would love any constructive criticism. “It would be better if you cropped out that tree” or other advice would be better and much more helpful than “nice shot.” I’ll see how this experiment goes :)

“There Is A Light That Never Goes Out” ~ The...

“There Is A Light That Never Goes Out” ~ The Smiths

Excellent music. I’ve been obsessing over them for the past few days…and I think everybody should listen to at least this song. If you like them, their song “Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want” is equally amazing.

Life is amazing.

This past week has just added to the list of amazing things I have experienced this summer. This past week alone I camped with my brother, fished for hours on end, took a road trip to meet up with many of my best friends from college, enjoyed a wonderful day at Cedar Point, spent hours on an electronic project (headphone amp), seen (and heard) the product of said work, finished two books, stargazed, listened to amazing music, ran in the woods, rode my bike through the beautiful woods, simplified my life a little bit, got away from the internet, and enjoyed every single second of it.

My aim in life is to live like this. Happy every minute of every day, and not regretting just sitting on my butt.

Here’s to life!

Cheers :)

The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. I have been drinking a gallon of milk a day (GOMAD), and eating a significant number of calories each day, and if I keep up the weight lifting and strength training, I’m sure to gain some weight.

I’ll be hitting the gym in a few hours (after a high protein meal of course), and I will update here if I’m gaining weight or strength.

In other news, I have been reading a lot, but I think I will step it up and read even more. I’m aiming for a big book a week (or several smaller ones including ebooks), and I might start putting up video reviews. I hope to find other people who do something similar, so I can find more books and get good recommendations from people who enjoy the same genres that I do.

If that doesn’t work out, I might start writing about my adventures. I am not working this summer, so I hope to continue (as I have been) to adventure and explore wherever and whenever possible. Today, for example, I will be heading up to a lake that I have never fished before, and possible mountain bike in the trails that surround the lake.

I might join the local bicycle club here, because I currently have nobody to ever ride with. None of my friends bike, and it isn’t the safest sport to go off into the woods by yourself. Who knows, maybe I’ll meet some more younger mountain bikers in the area through the local shop.

I also took up the tin whistle/pennywhistle/irish whistle the other day, and I am trying to teach myself how to read sheet music. My mom plays the piano, so she has been helping me quite a bit. I have a book full of awesome jigs that I hope to be able to play someday.

kapi:
